Elon Musk is known for being vocal and opinionated regarding the political and social issues of the world. Recently, he has voiced his views regarding the growing conflict between China and Taiwan
After Tesla CEO Elon Musk said Taiwan should become a special administrative region of China, Beijing and Taipei have stated their disapproval.
He stated in an interview that he believed the two governments could agree to a fairly acceptable accord.
Elon Musk is the richest man in the world and enjoys the status of being an opinion holder. He stated that allowing China to have some control over the island would solve the cross-strait dispute.
However, the Taiwanese politicians dismissed his statements and asked him to follow the views of the people of Taiwan.
Along with assisting Ukraine to fight the Russian regime through Starlink, Elon Musk has caused revolutionary change through Tesla and SpaceX. I’m asking Elon to uphold the same democratic principles about Taiwan.
In the same case, Musk earned accolades from China’s ambassador to the United States, while his Taiwanese colleague notified that freedom is not for sale.
Beijing claims Taiwan as part of its territory, while Taiwan is self-governing. The ongoing year has seen some soaring ties between both states on a different course of events.
Musk attracted criticism for posting a Twitter poll with his suggestions for putting an end to the dispute between Russia and Ukraine, including Kyiv ceding land to Moscow.
He also remarked on the growing China-Taiwan tensions.
Elon Musk has voiced his views as,
“My advice is to come up with a distinctive administrative zone for Taiwan that is acceptable but probably won’t please everyone. And it’s possible, and I believe they very well may have a more liberal arrangement than Hong Kong.”
According to the Chinese stance, after reunification, Taiwan would have a high level of autonomy as a special administrative region, and a vast space for growth. China’s sovereignty, security, and development interests are secured.
China’s ambassador to the US, Qin Gang, welcomed Elon Musk’s suggestion on Saturday to designate Taiwan as a special administrative region.
However, his remarks have gathered a lot of criticism since the matter is grudging between both states.
