Harmful toxic chemicals are found in Makeup Products for the skin according to Research-based examination. A developing organization of science has created an examination that there are impending adversative health impacts associated with PFAS (Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances.
They are synthetic organofluorine chemical compounds) coverage and usage that comprise liver harm, thyroid disease, diminished fertility, high cholesterol, obesity, hormone suppression, and cancer.
These Harmful toxic chemicals can simply migrate into the air, dust, food, soil, and water. These chemicals are extremely moveable and straightforwardly interchange through the environment and humans. Their toxicity can be immersed through the skin, absorbed by tear ducts, or swallowed.
These Harmful toxic chemicals constitute a large portion and part of several makeup products that are widely used and manufactured.
The learning and examination instituted extraordinary fluorine intensities that are clear indications of the possible attendance of potentially venomous chemicals called PFAs in many of the products.
Harmful toxic chemicals PFAS are extensively used in cosmetics manufactured by major brands in the U.S. and Canada.
Fresh learning verified the presence of toxic chemicals in hundreds of products of cosmetics.
High levels of organic fluorine, an indicator of PFAS are tested in over half of 231 makeup and personal care samples that are widely used as cosmetics and consist of lipstick, eyeliner, mascara, foundation, concealer, lip balm, blush, nail polish, and more.
According to an examination by the science and technology department, the products that most frequently comprehend high levels of fluorine comprise waterproof mascara (82% of brands tested), foundations (63%), and liquid lipstick (62%).
PFAS or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances are a classification of approximately 9,000 compounds consumed to brand products such as food packaging, clothing, and carpeting water, and stain-resistant.
They are frequently labeled as forever Harmful toxic chemicals since they do not naturally break down and have been established to store in humans which are considered to be a harmful and toxic though unnecessary addition to the human body.
These damaging and detrimental chemicals are interconnected at certain levels to cancer, birth defects, liver disease, thyroid disease, decreased immunity, hormone disruption, and a range of other serious health problems.
Tom Bruton, a senior scientist with Green Science Policy Institute said,
“Researchers were surprised by the high number of products that contain harmful toxic chemicals. This is the first study to look at total fluorine or PFAS in cosmetics so we just didn’t know what we were going to find. This is a product that people are spreading on their skin day after day, so there’s a potential for significant exposure.”
The most celebrated and well-rated brands like L’Oréal, Ulta, Mac, Cover Girl, Clinique, Maybelline, Smashbox, Nars, Estée Lauder, and more Products that were tested for individual PFAS compounds contained between four and 13 categories in each sample.
Companies that manufacture cosmetics often do not list and grade PFAS on their brands when they use the chemicals which makes it impossible for consumers to avoid since they are unaware.
Bruton further said,
“Cosmetic industry literature reviewed by the study’s authors indicated that PFAS were commonly used in cosmetics to make products waterproof, more durable, and easier to spread. However, the supply chain was complicated and it was unclear whether companies were aware that they were adding harmful toxic chemicals.”
David Andrews, a senior scientist for the Environmental Working Group said,
“It’s a little shocking and hopefully a wake-up call for the cosmetics industry in terms of how widespread the PFAS contamination is across types of makeup products.”
Cosmetics can be made without PFAS. Since cosmetics are widely and extensively used in multiple sectors and industries especially showbiz so it has become immensely imperative that the government steps up and standardizes the cosmetics industry and avoid using Harmful toxic chemicals.
