Israel’s detention of El-Kurd and Mona el-Kurd is witnessed after they raise their voice for their homeland.
In the race against Israel’s inhumaneness and cold-bloodedness, millions of Palestinians have been tortured gravely and brutally by Israeli police and authorities.
Israel has been out breaking the violence and brutality in Palestine for ages but the contemporary predicament was activated on 6 May, in the holy month of Ramadan, when Palestinians instigated protests in East Jerusalem over an anticipated decision of the Supreme Court of Israel on the eviction of six Palestinian families in Sheikh Jarrah.
On Sunday, June 6, 2021, Israeli police arrested the El-Kurd twins and Mona el-Kurd, noticeable and prominent activists, who have been witnessing the cruelty and bloodshed of Palestinians by Israeli officials.
He has also raised his voice regarding the Israel campaign against the threatened expulsion of Palestinian families from homes in the Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah. Palestinian activists were incarcerated in the East Jerusalem breaking point district.
The purpose of the detention is the prominence of both activists in the expression of opinions and proclamation of Truth. Israeli police detained the prominent activists for several hours.
Mona Al-Kurd, 23, was occupied into custody on Sunday morning from her home in the Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem district. Both were reportedly released later and returned home. While in confinement, Mona had been severely threatened to discontinue her approaches and initiatives with her legally permitted activities.
Mona’s father Nabil Al-Kurd stated in a statement,
“She had been denied access to a lawyer during interrogation, adding that the detentions were “an operation to terrorize the parents because the voice that emerged from the neighborhood was thanks to its youth.”
As Mona left custody, security forces used stun grenades and fired rubber-coated bullets to scatter protesters who had congregated outside the east Jerusalem police station where Mona had been detained and according to The Palestinian Red Crescent, 18 people were injured.
The Al-Kurd family in Sheikh Jarrah has been at the front position the months of protests against the intentional dislodgments.
The Kurd twins, from one of the families that face being exiled from their home, have controlled a dynamic protest measure on the streets and online. Because of their efforts and devotion toward the country and religion, they have managed to advance hundreds of thousands of followers on social media platforms counting Twitter and Instagram.
They raise their voice by consuming social media with hashtags #SheikhJarrah and #SaveSheikhJarrah. They use the weapon of the tongue and the camera and Mohammed and Mona made the whole world turn around for the cause. The detention of El-Kurd and Mona el-Kurd is surely not suppressing the voice of Palestine.
There is an Israeli regulation that if any Jews can evidence that their families existed in east Jerusalem before the 1948 Arab-Israeli war that formed the state of Israel, they can appeal for the return of their belongings, even if Palestinian families have been living there for decades.
Due to the efforts of activists, Sheikh Jarrah has drawn the consideration of a press freedom supervisory body.
Supporters of Mona and Mohammed El-Kurd stated on the detention of El-Kurd and Mona el-Kurd,
“The detention of El-Kurd and Mona el-Kurd is part of a broader Israeli effort to halt opposition to the evictions in Sheikh Jarrah, where Jewish settlers want to move into the El-Kurds’ home and others under an Israeli court ruling.”
An Israeli police spokeswoman without any direct reference and naming said,
“Police arrested under court order a suspect who is a resident of East Jerusalem, on suspicion of participating in riots that took place in Sheikh Jarrah recently”.
Footages were also circulating on social media that showed detention of El-Kurd and Mona el-Kurd and Mona manacled and being escorted out of her home by Israeli officers earlier on Sunday.
Israel Police did not instantaneously reference her twin brother Mohammed who came to a police station in East Jerusalem after getting a policy directive.
Speaking to journalists outside the police station, their father said,
“Palestinian residents would stay in Sheikh Jarrah to document the facts and show the terrorism practiced by the Israeli government. Our weapon is the tongue and the camera, Muhammad and Mona made the whole world turn around for our cause.”
Israel Police has also detained a reporter with Qatar-based media network Al Jazeera who had been covering a protest there and a day after in Sheikh Jarrah the activists were detained. Al Jazeera’s Jerusalem bureau chief, Walid Al-Omari, accused Israel’s effort of trying to silence media that are witnessing, documenting, and reporting the truth.
Mona and Muhammad have both been freed. Israel’s detention of El-Kurd and Mona el-Kurd is an instance of how Israel is depressing the voice of Palestine.
