K-pop stars BTS are all doing mandatory military service in South Korea with the remaining four members leaving as well. BTS members Kim Namjoon, Kim Taehyung, Park Jimin, and Jeon Jungkook have begun their mandatory military service in South Korea.
The military services in South Korea are mandatory for all healthy and able men due to its strong neighbor North Korea. It is not an exemption based on materialistic criteria. Therefore, for BTS members it was mandatory to go there. Despite the arguments and debates, finally, all the BTS members are now serving in the military.
RM and V went first on 11 December 2023 while Jung Kook and Jimin left on 12 December 2023. They all would complete their 18 months of training in the military and come back.
As each of the seven members of the well-known Korean boy band BTS completes their required military service, the group will take a hiatus until at least 2025. The break is obedient with South Korean laws mandating that physically fit men enlist in the military for a predetermined amount of time. The group intends to come back together as a whole once each member has finished their individual military duties.

RM and V started their mandatory service in an army boot camp in the central city of Nonsan, according to HYBE.
Combat training for five weeks will be given to RM and V before their assignment to particular units and responsibilities. The singers would undergo the same procedures as other male South Koreans who are conscripted for service, the Military Manpower Administration has emphasized.
